Description

HLA Attachments SGB78BO500 78-inch Scrap Grapple Bucket is a heavy-duty hydraulic material-handling attachment built for awkward, abrasive loads. Combining a durable bucket body with two independently operating grapples, it provides controlled clamping across uneven or irregular material. The 78-inch inside width, 22.5 cu ft SAE heaped capacity and BO500 quick-attach mounting configuration make it a practical choice for handling scrap and other challenging bulk material with a compatible loader.

Built for Demanding Material Handling

The SGB78BO500 is based on HLA Attachments’ SGB78 scrap grapple bucket and uses the BO500 mounting arrangement. Its bucket is manufactured from 1/4-inch material, while 3/8-inch end plates add strength along the sides. A substantial 3/4 x 6-inch beveled cutting edge supports loading and handling in abrasive working conditions.

Two independently operating grapples allow the attachment to conform more effectively to uneven loads than a single full-width grapple. Each grapple can respond separately as material height and shape vary across the bucket, helping retain awkward items and mixed loads. Grapple movement is powered by two 2-1/2 x 8-inch hydraulic cylinders.

Capacity and Working Dimensions

With a 78-inch inside width, the SGB78 provides useful coverage while offering 17.2 cu ft of struck capacity and 22.5 cu ft of SAE heaped capacity. Its overall dimensions are 31 inches high and 34 inches deep. The approximate published weight of 1,165 lb applies to the SGB78 base model.

Independent Grapple Control

The dual-grapple configuration is particularly useful when a load is unevenly distributed across the bucket. Because the grapples operate independently, each side can clamp according to the shape and height of the material beneath it. This provides adaptable load control when working with irregular material that may not sit evenly within a conventional bucket.

Loader Compatibility

The BO500 mounting configuration is associated by HLA with universal skid-steer-style quick-attach carrier applications. HLA identifies BO500 applications across multiple loader brands, including selected New Holland, John Deere, Massey Ferguson, Kubota, Terex, Woods, Frey and Kioti loaders.

Compatibility is determined by the loader’s carrier style rather than the loader brand alone. Confirm that the specific loader uses the required BO500-compatible, universal skid-steer-style carrier before ordering.

Optional Wear and Retention Components

The bucket is drilled for a standard bolt-on cutting edge, allowing it to be equipped for different operating needs. Available options identified for the SGB78 include the 346CEB 3/4 x 6-inch double-bevel bolt-on cutting edge with hardware and the 346CESB 3/4 x 6-inch single-bevel serrated bolt-on cutting edge with hardware. An SGBEPK bolt-on end-plate kit is also available as an optional addition.
