The Wallenstein BXTR5224 5" Auto Feed Trailer Chipper is a towable, self-contained wood chipper designed for efficient processing of branches and woody material up to 5 inches (13 cm) in diameter. Its dual hydraulic roller feed system, automatic roller speed control, and Vanguard® 23 hp (627 cc) EFI engine provide dependable material handling and chipping performance without requiring a tractor PTO. Built for practical transport and jobsite productivity, the BXTR5224 features a highway-towable trailer configuration, tool-free fold-up feed hopper, electric start, adjustable 360-degree discharge chute, and P3 Pulse™ on-board intelligence.

Efficient Hydraulic Roller Feeding

The BXTR5224 uses dual driven hydraulic rollers to draw material into the disc-style chipper. Automatic roller speed control helps match feed operation to the material being processed, while the wide 5.25 x 9 inch (13 x 23 cm) infeed opening accommodates a broad range of branches and brush. The tool-free fold-up feed hopper simplifies preparation for transport and storage.

A 5 inch (13 cm) chipping capacity, 85 fpm (26 mpm) maximum feed rate, and 24 x 35 inch (61 x 89 cm) hopper opening support productive chipping operation. The oversized heavy-duty rotor has a 25 inch (64 cm) diameter and weighs 117 lb (53 kg). Two reversible rotor knives and a twig breaker are included among the working features.

Self-Contained Power and Control

Power comes from a Vanguard® 23 hp (627 cc) EFI engine operating at 3,600 rpm. The self-contained hydraulic system has a 5 US gal (19 L) capacity, so the chipper is configured for operation without a tractor hydraulic or PTO connection. Electric start supports convenient engine operation, while P3 Pulse™ on-board intelligence is included as part of the machine’s control and monitoring system.

Discharge and Jobsite Practicality

The adjustable discharge chute rotates through 360 degrees and has a discharge height of 80 inches (203 cm), allowing the operator to position chip output as required. A positional discharge deflector provides additional control over the discharge direction. The BXTR5224 also includes a built-in toolbox, safety control bar, Torflex suspension axle, and highway-towable trailer design.

Transport and Operation Requirements

The Wallenstein BXTR5224 is designed for towable, self-contained operation and is highway towable. It uses a 2 inch ball hitch and has a 90 lb tongue weight. The unit has no electric brakes. No tractor PTO or tractor hydraulic connection is required for operation because the chipper has its own engine and self-contained hydraulic system.
