Bale Production and Handling

The Vermeer 604S Premium is built for producing dense, well-shaped round bales. Its variable-chamber design supports bale diameters from 36 to 72 in, allowing the operator to select the bale size suited to the crop, handling equipment, and storage requirements. Consistent belt pressure throughout the baling process contributes to better bale shape and denser bales.

The camless wide pickup provides a 69-in tooth-to-tooth working width and uses 70 double rubber-mounted teeth to gather material into the baling chamber. Once the bale is formed, the standard mechanical netwrap system secures it for handling and storage. The hydraulic bale ramp assists with bale discharge at the end of the cycle.

Operator Controls and Maintenance

The Atlas Pro control system combines a 7-in color touchscreen with in-cab bale-density adjustments, giving the operator control over important baling settings from the tractor cab. Standard ISOBUS capability supports integration with compatible tractor control systems. LED maintenance lights are fitted as standard to help illuminate service areas, while the standard Auto Lube greasing system is designed to simplify routine lubrication tasks.

Tractor Requirements

The 604S Premium requires a tractor with a minimum of 85 hp (63.4 kW) at the PTO. Vermeer lists 105 hp (78.3 kW) as the recommended PTO horsepower. The baler uses a standard 540-rpm driveline.
