Description

The Vermeer 504R Classic Round Baler is a variable-chamber round hay baler designed to produce 4-foot-wide bales with adjustable diameters from 36 to 60 inches. With a 60-inch camless wide pickup, five standard mini rough-top belts, 540-rpm driveline, and Atlas control system with a color touchscreen, it is suited to haymaking operations that need flexible bale sizing and dependable crop intake. This configuration supports twine tying, with a netwrap system available as an option, and is designed for tractors providing at least 40 PTO horsepower, with 50 PTO horsepower recommended.

Flexible Bale Formation for Hay Operations

The Vermeer 504R Classic uses a variable-chamber bale chamber to form bales measuring 47 inches wide, with the diameter adjustable between 36 and 60 inches. This flexibility allows operators to select a bale size suited to crop conditions, handling preferences, and storage requirements. Maximum bale weight is rated at 1,000 pounds.

Crop intake is handled by a 60-inch camless wide pickup fitted with four tooth bars and 48 double steel-coil teeth. The wide pickup is designed to gather windrows efficiently, while the five standard mini rough-top belts, each 6.8 inches wide, support consistent bale formation through the variable chamber.

Control and Bale-Handling Options

The Atlas control system provides operator control through a 4.3-inch color touchscreen. Bale-production options include twine tying and an optional netwrap system. Optional bale-shape indicators and moisture sensors are also available for configurations equipped with those features. The standard pickup lift is manual, while a hydraulic pickup lift is available as an option.

Tractor Requirements

The Vermeer 504R Classic requires a minimum of 40 PTO horsepower (29.8 kW). Vermeer recommends a tractor providing 50 PTO horsepower (37.3 kW). The driveline operates at 540 rpm. Confirm that the tractor is appropriately matched to the baler and that the available PTO and operating equipment meet the requirements for the intended application.
