Description

The WALLENSTEIN FX85R 8500 LB Skidding Winch is a PTO-driven mechanical skidding winch designed for tractors from 30–55 engine horsepower. Its factory-installed remote control allows convenient operation from the tractor, while the steel cable and 8,500 lb pulling capacity provide a capable solution for skidding logs and other materials in forestry, land management, and property-maintenance applications. With Category I 3-point mounting, a mechanical dry-disc clutch, 540 rpm PTO input, two included choker chains, and two keyhole sliders, the FX85R is equipped for practical tractor-powered skidding work.

Designed for Tractor-Powered Skidding

The FX85R connects to a tractor through a Category I 3-point hitch and is powered by a 540 rpm PTO. Its 8,500 lb rated pulling capacity supports skidding applications where logs or other loads must be drawn toward the tractor. The steel cable provides 165 ft of reach, while the included choker chains and keyhole sliders help equip the winch for connecting and managing loads.

The mechanical dry-disc clutch is matched with a line speed of 96–238 ft/min. Actual performance depends on operating conditions and tractor specifications. The winch has a maximum bare-drum pull of 8,553 lb and a maximum full-drum pull of 2,992 lb.

Remote-Control Operation

This FX85R variant features factory-installed remote control operation. The remote-control system requires a tractor hydraulic system providing 1–2 gpm (4–8 lpm), an open-center hydraulic system, and a 12 VDC, 1.5 A electrical source. Confirm that the tractor meets these hydraulic and electrical requirements before installation and operation.

Tractor Compatibility and Requirements

The WALLENSTEIN FX85R is intended for tractors with 30–55 engine horsepower and a Category I 3-point hitch. The tractor must provide a 540 rpm PTO input, 1–2 gpm (4–8 lpm) of hydraulic flow for the remote control, and a 12 V electrical supply. The specified PTO height is 16 in (41 cm).
