Description

The Wallenstein WX540 20-Ton Log Splitter is a self-contained, towable wood splitter built for flexible horizontal or vertical operation. Powered by a Vanguard® 6.5 hp (203 cc) engine, it delivers 20 tons of split force through a 4-inch (10 cm) cylinder and provides a 24-inch (61 cm) split opening. Its wide wedge is designed to make the wood block “pop” early in the split process, while the two-stage hydraulic pump, direct pressure, and hands-free return support efficient operation for firewood preparation and general log-splitting work.

Flexible Horizontal and Vertical Splitting

The WX540 can be used in either horizontal or vertical orientation, allowing the operator to choose the position that best suits the log being processed. Horizontal splitting provides a practical setup for standard-sized logs, while vertical splitting can help reduce the need to lift heavier pieces onto the bed. With a 24-inch bed height and 24-inch split opening, the splitter is designed to accommodate a wide range of firewood applications.

20-Ton Splitting Performance

Wallenstein equips the WX540 with a 20-ton split force, a 4-inch cylinder, and a 9-inch wedge height. The wide wedge is designed to begin the split early, helping the wood block separate as pressure is applied. The average splitter cycle time is 6.62 seconds, with a full cycle time of 13.24 seconds.

A Vanguard® 6.5 hp (203 cc) engine supplies power to the splitter’s two-stage hydraulic pump. The self-contained design means the unit is configured as a complete log-splitting machine, while its towable chassis supports transport using the 2-inch ball hitch.
