The Vermeer MS400 Twin-Auger Manure Spreader is a high-capacity manure-spreading solution designed for demanding agricultural applications. With a 400 cu ft (11.3 cu m) heaped capacity, a maximum net load of 25,000 lb (11,339.8 kg), and twin vertical augers, the MS400 is built to move and distribute substantial volumes of material efficiently. Its 425/65 R22.5 tires, fully welded body, heavy-duty floor-drive components, and compatibility with either 540-rpm or 1,000-rpm PTO operation provide practical flexibility for appropriately equipped tractors. The spreader offers a maximum spread width of 52 ft (15.8 m), making it suitable for field manure management and high-throughput spreading work.

Vermeer MS400 Manure Spreader Features

The MS400 combines a large-capacity body with a twin-auger spreading mechanism. The twin vertical augers are equipped with boron auger flighting and heat-treated boron teeth to support demanding spreading duties. A one-piece gearbox, full-width floor slats, and an adjustable floor-chain tensioning system contribute to the machine’s heavy-duty drivetrain and material-handling configuration.

Built for practical operation and service access, the MS400 features a vertical lift endgate, ground-level greasing, and a fully welded body. The floor uses a 1/2-in (13-mm) poly floor over a steel sub-floor, while the heavy-duty 80-grade chain and 5/8-in (16-mm) floor chain size support the floor-drive system. The spreader is fitted with new 425/65 R22.5 tires and has a transport width of 108 in (274.3 cm) with standard tires.

Tractor Requirements

The Vermeer MS400 requires a tractor with recommended PTO output of 110 hp (82 kW). It is PTO-compatible at either 540 rpm or 1,000 rpm. The tractor must also provide two double-acting hydraulic circuits and hydraulic flow of 20 gpm (80 L/min). Confirm that the tractor meets these PTO and hydraulic requirements before operation.
