Behind the Hammer – Farrow Built Interviews Dylan from Timberstar Tractor

We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with the team from Farrow Built for their "Behind the Hammer" series. It was a great opportunity to take a step back from the day-to-day rush, sit down in the showroom, and chat about where Timberstar Tractor came from—and where we are going.

For those of you who only know us as your local tractor dealer, you might be surprised to learn that our roots actually go deep into the forestry industry.

From Grade Printers to Tractors
As Dylan mentioned to the Farrow Built team, Timberstar’s story really kicks off back in 1984. " My dad and uncle were serial entrepreneurs who started out building industry changing grade printers for the lumber industry. If you bought a 2x4 in Canada back in the 90s and early 2000s, there was a very high chance our machine put it there. We were manufacturing heavy-duty machinery for the forestry sector, and that experience gave us a serious appreciation for equipment that is built to last."

Finding a Better Way
The shift to tractors happened organically. " My dad and uncle owned a certain "orange" tractor brand, and honestly, they weren't impressed. The steering slopped out, leaks appeared, it simply did not hold up to the hype. They just felt there had to be a better way. They went looking for a machine that matched the heavy-duty quality they were used to building themselves. That search led them to Kioti. When they realized there were no dealers nearby, they didn't just buy two tractors—they started a dealership."

Grown in the Okanagan
Since firing up that side of the business in 2008, we have grown from a small family project into one of the largest tractor dealerships in the North Okanagan. In the interview, we talk about how that growth wasn't accidental. It came from vetting every single attachment we sell (mostly Canadian-made!), standing behind the "Right to Repair," and treating every person who walks through our doors like family.Whether you are buying your first tractor or your 80th oil filter, we want you to feel welcome to sit by the fire and chat.

Thank You to Our Community
We say it in the video, and we’ll say it again here: We owe everything to you. We wouldn’t be where we are in 2025 without the incredible support of our customers and the community. You are the reason we keep looking for "a better way."
